Neuhaus, the Belgian chocolate and inventor of the ballotin

Our last article described the Queens Gallery in Brussels. Here in this historical building, Mr. Neuhaus started his first ballotin shop in 1857. He was the first one to invent the chocolate praline. Belgium is very famous for its chocolate and pralines. Many people think that Neuhaus is German but we want to set this straight. This is Belgian heritage. We are proud to have visited his shop and to share the pictures with you. Can you imagine buying some choclate directly from the house who invented the praline in a shop that already exists for 154 years? No, the pictures below give you an impression. They also let you taste the pralines for free.

  2. Jean Neuhaus was Swiss, therefore Belgian Pralines are Swiss. Or are they French? Monsieur Prahline was French. OR don't believe in Wikipedia!!
Please show us a picture of a Ballotin.
Anyway, thanks for the samples. They tasted delicious! or is that deliciously??

  3. It is not coming from Wikipedia but the info comes directly from Neuhaus information in the shop. They also publish it in all their chocolate boxes. I doubt that they are wrong.

    Greetings,
    Filip
