Some stations are so beautiful with shiny marble, paintings, photos and chandeliers. You recognise the stations by an arched tunnel or a small brown tower with elevators. 2. Hello Filip! This is certainly a timely post as my cousin will be in Dubai this coming week on Business. I have totally enjoyed your postings on Dubai and AbuDabai. Really informative. I also see that Jumeirah Beach is where my family will be staying, although not sure of the hotel. Will forward your posting to my family. Are you still in Dubai for an extended visit? How fascinating. You asked on my blog where i get barn pictures.. well although we live in a large city in Texas, we have a country home in Oklahoma which is an adjoining state. Lots of farmland where our cabin is, and plenty of rundown barns, cows, etc to pick from. Mostly, we are driving by until I call out stop, there is another barn, and "voila", there are my barn shots. Enjoying all of your posts. Jeanne

  4. It certainly looks impressive. Is it true that much of the building and labouring work is done by cheap labour from the subcontinent? I understand these foreign workers live away from the city in much poorer/primitive conditions to those viewed by the public.

I don't know the labour conditions of people working in the building sector, but I am sure that many people work at cheap rates for us, but at better conditions then in their home country. Also in the horeca you see many people from low cost countries. Dubai has no other choice, 93% of the population are emigrants, mainly coming from the Philipines and India. It is impossible for them to live in the city centre, it would be impossible for us to live in the city centre, the real estate prices there are always above a million euro for an appartment.
