Amazing ceiling and statues of the St. Peters church in Salzburg

The abbey connected to this church is already 1400 years old and the church in the current Rococo style is about 800 years old. In our previous Salzburg article we wrote about Mozart and he was indeed playing his music in this church.

We enter the St Peters church and were astonished by the ceiling decorations and paintings. It was just unbelievable. The organ is very beautiful and supports several statues. This is one of the most dominating elements of the church, the statues. They are everywhere, the one more impressive than the other. There are many churches in Salzburg but this one and the Dom are the most amazing religious treasures.

  4. What a beautiful and historic church. In France, all the churches built before 1905 belong to the State, they are considered monuments and do not belong to the Catholic Church. So, there are concerts given in those that have great organs - This way people can come in the evening without disturbing the religious ceremonies, or if they don’t want to assist to the religious ceremonies. Is it the same in Austria? I’d love to hear an organ concert in St. Peters Church in Salzburg.
