At Tourlos Bay and the most northen point of Chora, you find the famous windmills of Mykonos. They were used like in The Netherlands to grind wheat but they no longer in operation. Now it is a tourist attraction. In one windmill you now have a private house, and in another one a museum with shop. They all have a round shape topped with a tatched roof.

Very unlike Dutch windmills, don't you agree?
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your back posts. Your photos of Israel were very good. You have a post about the oldest church in the world, originating in 326. Well my father’s family is Armenian and has always told me that Armenia was the first country to become Christian. They told me that the Etchmiadzin Cathedral built in 301-303 in Armenia was the oldest. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vagharshapat,_Armenia .) It looks like you had great weather there.
ReplyDeleteYour dance videos are so much fun to watch – that tango is always my favorite. Your photos of Mykonos are stunning. I went there years ago but in November. There were no tourists. I stayed at a small hotel but only had my film camera. I was alone but had a great time walking all over the island.
Why don't the windmills have sails any more? Love your bright sunny warm photos!
ReplyDeleteMykonas is such a picaresque port! Love all those white buildings. Looks hot there!
ReplyDeletethe best picture ever of the windmills!

ReplyDeleteInteresting windmills. Did they have sails at one time? Looks like you had super weather there.
