Cubism and Art Deco buildings in South Beach, Miami

Most of the Art Deco houses in Miami Beach can be found on Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue but they are spread over the city centre. This popular art stream which boomed between 1920 and 1940 had not only an influence on architecture but also interiors and clothing. For us this stream is hard to understand, the main element we see in it is cubism and we like the colourful painted motifs. It seems however a style that needs a lot of façade maintenance. Hope you like the pictures, we will try to provide you some night shot in one of the next articles.

  9. Very spectacular streets with those palms. Deep blue sky is a perfect background.

  10. I can't even imagine all of the "facade maintenance' those buildings would take. Especially in the sea air which i imagine is very hard on buildings. Like that little fountain that Kristel is sitting by, and the spout on the fountain looks like a copy of one that i saw in Rome
