Restaurants, shops and fishing on the Galata Bridge, Istanbul

The Galata Bridge connects the old city with the Galata district and the new parts of Istanbul. It is an extremely busy traffic road which is always blocked during evening hours, only the tram crosses freely on a separate lane.

Pedestrians can walk on the ground floor with restaurants and shops or on the same level as the cars and the fishermen. The fishermen are there all day long, from dawn till dusk. Hundreds of them. The views on the Bosphorus and the New Mosque are fantastic.

  6. Lovely photos. Can't imagine here in Australia people as many as there fishing from the bridge, here would not be permitted for safety reason. It's good that the fish are plentiful.
