Restaurant “Het Fornuis” in Antwerpen, one of our favourite places

Most of our English blog readers probably wonder, “Het Fornuis”, what is that. Well, the name of the restaurant translates into “The Stove”. A friend introduced us in this restaurant that has one Michelin Star and 18/20 in the GaultMillau guide. After two visits we can truly say that Chef Johan Segers made this one of our favourite restaurants. We are in fact astonished that this restaurant doesn’t have two stars.

Johan Segers also cooks for NjamTV. You would think that these TV personalities are less open towards their customers but this is exactly the opposite at “Het Fornuis”. Johan Segers present himself the fresh ingredients of the that day. He does it with flair and you see he enjoys his profession, his passion for cooking and top quality food immediately touches you. In his 17th century house, the wooden interior enhances the warm and relaxed feeling.

To summarise our impression of the cuisine: all ingredients are of top quality, the taste and product combinations excellent and the chef is open for suggestions when you have a special request. The sommelier presents you an impressive wine list on an Ipad.

Een iPad lijkt me toch handiger :-))
