Restaurant - Brasserie La Paix, the meat temple of Anderlecht

We already visited this 1 Michelin Star restaurant from David Martin a few times. He specialises in meat and we love his filet mignon of Zimmental. This time we are going for an adventure. The 5 starters degustation. What should we expect? Probably meat. Oh boy, we were wrong and positively surprised.

Local market at the abattoir of Anderlecht, Brussels

Are you looking for some bargains, or do you like to visit lively local markets, Anderlecht is the place to be. We went to the market in front of the main entrance of the abattoir on a Friday morning. Traders offer a wide range of products like clothing, suitcases, second hand stuff, but also fresh fruit, vegetables and meat. In front of the market in the Ropsy Chaudronstraat specialised shops sell fresh meat and charcuterie. This district of Brussels is an area where many Africans live. It brings life and colourful dressed people in the street.

One of the best beef restaurants in Belgium, La Paix in Anderlecht

A gourmet fan recommended us to try restaurant La Paix for its high quality Simmental beef. He described it as one of the best filet mignons he ever had. The Chef David Martin worked in several Michelin Star restaurants and now also has one Michelin Star with his Brasserie/Restaurant La Paix in Anderlecht (Brussels). The Brasserie already exists since 1892 and they try to keep the interior in the original style. It is located just in front of the gates of the abattoir.

As starter we selected the Carpaccio of Langoustines in a Miso sauce with some marinated vegetables. The combination of ingredients and taste was a very positive surprise. As main course we took the Filet Mignon of Simmental. An excellent piece of soft meat with pure taste. On the side we had some French fries and Béarnaise sauce. A perfect classic combination. To end his meal, Filip had a Dame Blanche with house prepared ice cream and fresh chocolate sauce. An excellent restaurant in an unusual style and food presentation for a Michelin Star restaurant. We are certainly going back. The next reservation is already made.

We zullen hier zeker teruggaan. Onze volgende reservatie staat reeds genoteerd..
