After a short trip with a speedboat, we arrive in the bay of Macau with its playful shaped bridge. While waiting for customs and immigration control, we are confronted with guidelines written in Chinese, English and Portuguese. A direct link with the fact that Macau was a colony of Portugal.
It is true, Macau is a bit like Las Vegas with big casino buildings like the Star World, the Lisboa and the Wynn. The interiors are flashy and many of the games offered unknown to us. It was an adventure to discover this city in full expansion. For all of you who followed our series of 34 China articles, this was the last one. We hope you enjoyed it.
Het staat algemeen bekend in Europa dat Chinezen graag gokken en spelletjes spelen, dat is toch de indruk. Daar we enkele keren in Las Vegas geweest zijn, konden we Macau niet links laten liggen nu we er zo dichtbij waren in Hong Kong.
Na een korte vaart met een speedboot komen we aan in de baai van Macau met zijn speelse golvende brug. Terwijl we wachten bij de douane en grenscontrole worden we geconfronteerd met richtlijnen in het Chinees, Engels en Portugees. Een directe link met het feit dat Macau een Portugese kolonie was.
Het is waar, Macau is een beetje zoals Las Vegas met grote Casino's zoals Star World, de Bilbao en de Wynn. De inrichting is altijd kitsch en vele van de aangeboden spelen zijn onbekend voor ons. Het was een avontuur deze stad in volle expansie te ontdekken. Voor iedereen die onze China reeks van 34 artikelen gevolgd heeft, dit was het laatste. We hopen dat je er van genoten hebt.
