Pure and fresh Italian food at the Bracciano Lake

We are happy to write our 100th article of Italy about a typical village at a lake. You see the market place, some houses, a church and its tower. Next to the restaurant at the lake lays a fishers net. The fish, shrimps and spaghetti is fabulous. Pure fresh products, the Italian kitchen at its best. On the water you see swans and there is a sailing competition.

We zijn blij ons 100ste Italiaans artikel te schrijven over een vissersdorp aan een meer. Je ziet de marktplaats, enkele huizen, een kerk en zijn kloktoren. Naast het strandrestaurant ligt een vissersnet. De vis, garnalen en spaghetti is ongelooflijk. Pure verse producten, de Italiaanse keuken op zijn best. Op het water zie je zwanen en is er een zeilcompetitie.

Careful not to trip over sea lions on Gardner Bay, Galapagos

Pictures say more than a thousand words so we will keep it short. Gardner Bay beach is a crowded place full of sun catchers. This time no slim ladies in miniscule bikinis but mainly lazy sea lions. They lay in the sun and don’t even open their eyes when you pass by. Some of them chase each other on the sand and others play in the water. Be cautious when taking pictures and walking around, you could trip over a sea lion. Remember they are a lot stronger and have longer teeth than you.

Foto’s zeggen meer als duizend woorden dus houden we het kort. Gardner Bay is heel populair en vol met zonnekloppers. Deze keer zijn het echter geen slanke dames in minuscule bikini’s maar hoofdzakelijk luie zeeleeuwen. Ze liggen in de zon en kijken niet eens op als je dicht voorbij wandelt. Enkelen jagen op elkaar in het zand, anderen spelen in het water. Wees voorzichtig bij het nemen van foto’s en wandelen, je zou kunnen struikelen over een zeeleeuw. Onthoudt dat zij sterker zijn en langere tanden hebben als jij.

Birds and Iguanas at Gardner Bay, Espanola Island

Wildlife in the Galapagos is exceptional. During each hike we are amazed of the beauty and fearlessness of the animals. They have no human enemies here and the islands are protected against high volume tourism. Land visits are not permitted without license and guide.

On this fabulous beach of Gardner Bay we saw some birds and fresh tracks of a giant tortoise who laid her eggs in the sand. Just look at the prints in the sand with the sea and sun in the background.

A bit further we find large groups of iguanas. They all have grey, black and red colors. We particularly like our picture of the iguana on the green seaweed rocks.

De dieren op de Galapagos eilanden zijn exceptioneel. Tijdens elke wandeling zijn we verbaasd van de schoonheid en angstloosheid van de dieren. Zij hebben hier geen menselijke vijanden en de eilanden zijn beschermd tegen massa toerisme. Zonder vergunning en gids is dit verboden terrein.

Op het prachtige strand van Gardner Bay zagen we enkele vogels en de verse sporen van een reuze schildpad die haar eieren in het zand begraven had. Kijk eens naar de afdrukken in het zand met de zee en zon op de achtergrond. 

Iets verder zien we grote groepen leguanen. Ze hebben zwarte, grijze en rode kleuren op hun huid. In het bijzonder vinden we de foto met de leguaan op de groene zeewier rotsen heel leuk.

Mont Saint-Michel polders and views, Normandy

The Mont Saint-Michel is one of the top landmarks of France which you have to visit. It is a city located in the province of Normandy. At high tide, the city of Mont Saint-Michel gets disconnected from the main land and temporary becomes an island. Nowadays, it is possible to reach it via a bridge accessible for pedestrians.

The views of the Mont Saint-Michel are amazing. In the polders you see sheep, horses, cattle and hikers. Hiking via the beach is only allowed with guided tours because of drift sand. The tide sometimes gain territory quickly and it could be dangerous. Be careful and join an expert when you hike via the beaches. Via the bridge is no problem at all.

De Mont Saint-Michel is één van de top attracties van Frankrijk die je zeker moet bezoeken. Het is een stadje in Normandië. Bij vloed wordt de stad omringd door water, een tijdelijk eiland, afgesloten van het vaste land. Tegenwoordig is het wel mogelijk de overtocht te maken via een grote voetgangersbrug. 

De zichten van de Mont Saint-Michel en omgeving zijn ongelooflijk. In de polders zie je schapen, paarden, vee en wandelaars. De wandeling via het strand is enkel toegelaten onder begeleiding van een gids omwille van drijfzand. De getijden kunnen heel snel oprukken en grote stukken strand innemen, wat gevaarlijk kan worden. Wees voorzichtig en blijf bij een expert gids als je de wandeling maakt via het strand. Via de brug is totaal geen probleem.
