The UFO building or Sony Center on Potsdamerplatz

This is one of the most modern parts of Berlin. During the Cold War, this was an empty neutral zone between West and East Berlin. The Sony Center is a top piece of architecture that was built about 15 years ago. On the inner square an UFO comes down from the glass ceiling. It is a center for amusement and nightlife, a collection of bars, restaurants, movie theatres and a movie museum. The real size giraffe in front of the building is made of Lego. It stands in front of the Lego store.

Not everything is new here. Behind a protective glass, you see an old wall of the “Kaisersaal” or the Emperor Hall. It is the only wall that still remains from the world famous hotel Esplanade. The hotel was destroyed during World War II.

  1. My mother always said Berlin was a beautiful and clean city. It sure shows that here. Is the Filmhaus a movie theater? Great photos!

I don't know why, but I love most the last imago. There is something which I can not explain.
