The Cascada fountain in Parc de la Ciutadella, Barcelona

It is normal that grass is green but green water is something else. After standing a few minutes in front of this spectacular Neptune’s fountain you get used to it. The staircases on both sides of the victory tower make it possible to walk around the Cascada.

Mythical animals which protect the area are called griffins and some of you will remember them from the Harry Potter movies. The geese were not impressed and continue swimming around them.

On the top of the tower you see a golden horse and carriage, a victory symbol. The statues are amazing and display naked ladies, children, wild sea horses and golden phoenixes. This fountain was built for the Barcelona World Exhibition of 1888 and Antoni Gaudi contributed to its construction. In those days he was still unkonwn to the world.

  5. Been to Florence and see the Neptune fountain. But haven't stepped into Barcelona. I will take me about almost 2 days to reach there. So I am still debating whether I should do it.

Stunning fountain and yes, the green water is really an attraction.
