General Impressions of Valletta, the capital of Malta

Malta is an island and its capital Valletta located at the sea. The old city defended by a huge fort is almost completely surrounded by water which made it possible to take many good pictures of the ports. Next to fisher boats, small sail boats and super yachts, Valletta is also a cruise port. On our last day we even saw a Costa ship in the harbour which is exceptional for this time of the year. Celebrity Cruises, with our favourite ships has its home port for its complete fleet here in Valletta.

Valletta is a nice friendly town with lots of churches. It is built on a rock and walking through the city sometimes requires a bit of climbing. When you have walking difficulties you can always take a tourist train or a horse and carriage tour. To reach the upper level of Valletta from the fisher’s port, there is a possibility to take a tall futuristic elevator. We end our article with a picture of the remains of a Roman temple at the entrance of the Old City.

  2. Have to ask you , what is the older building with the modern looking area in the center. Is it some sort of elevator shaft, or stairway. Very interesting sights here, and interesting that your favorite cruise line home bases here.
