The Parish Church of Santa Cruz rises above the houses, Madrid

There is always something interesting about churches. Walking into this street we first saw the church tower with a perfectly maintianed facade. The sculptures above the entry portal are very beautiful but this is for us not the unique element of this religious building.

It is located in a normal street, connected between normal houses. We have to say that the houses and hotels look very nice just like the church. We wonder what was here first? Did they built the houses against the church or were two houses replaced by a church? Today, it doesn't matter anymore, the harmony of church and houses is just perfect.

The interior of the church is rather simple with tiled walls and ceilings, and there are a few heavy decorated altars. Completely in line with our expectations, the more impressive the exterior of a church and more simple the interior. Just reflect yourself for the churches you know.

  1. A huge church for sure. I find it strange that it is connected to other buildings. Here, a church always stands separate. But guess it is good for Christians staying at the hotel.
