In Phuket we had the opportunity to visit the Asian Beach Games an Asian event with 42 participating countries. Many of the sports we already knew like jet skiing, beach volleyball, beach soccer, wrestling, badminton, running, swimming, body building, petanque...
Our best pictures are from the jet skiing and Kabaddi. What is this? We never heard about Kabaddi, after half an hour watching the game, I still did not understand it. One team tries to push out a member of the other team, sometimes it looks like they are trying to kick each other or wrestle. For sure it is a hard sport for muscular men.
I was also surprised of a sport called Sepaktakraw, it is similar like beach volleyball but the players have to kick a little ball across the net. They are not allowed to use their hands. Looks very difficult and technical.
Men mag geen handen gebruiken.

Sepak takraw is very popular among the malay community in Malaysia as well as South East Asia. It's a widely played game and even a regular sports in the Asian Games.

ReplyDeleteNever heard of either of the games but have seen games on the sand whereby the ball is kicked over the net and hands are not to be used.
You wouldn't understand the game of football in Australia - the AFL.
