Tone Tai Waterfall and Raman Forest Park, Phang Nga

Raman Forest Park in Phang Nga is not touristic. We were the only visitors in the nature reserve, there was nobody. From the parking area we could already see a small creek with little cascades. Crossing the water via a wooden bridge felt like being one with nature.

The water was so clear you could see the silver white fishes swimming. Having a closer look we also saw tropical clown fishes, which are very popular in Europe for home aquariums. We also have a few of them at home but we didn't bring them from Thailand.

You could compare the Raman Forest Park with a little version of Erawan Park. You find the waterfalls on several elevation levels with small ponds. It was very hot and the forest contributed to the humidity. After thirty minutes’ walk we were soaking wet. This is an interesting place to escape from busy tourist attractions like the nearby James Bond Island. We would recommend a two hour stop if you visit Phang Nga by car.

  3. Looking at the moss and lush greenery, I can almost feel the humidity. It looks like a place of solitude that I would enjoy (except maybe for the heat).

  6. Raman Forest Park looks a delightful area to wander, and how lovely to have it all to yourselves. I would love a Stelitzia reginae (Bird of Paradise) plant for my conservatory.
