Super and Classic Cars in Miami Beach, Florida

The main boulevards in Miami Beach like Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue or Washington Avenue are always a nice spotting place for Super or Classic cars. Certainly sitting on a terrace on Ocean Drive, where the eccentric show off their vehicles. We like it.

On our pictures you see examples of a Corvette, a tuned Infinity, Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Ford Mustang, a Viper, Chevrolet and a Lamborghini. We also added a few classic cars and our rented Chrysler Grand Voyager with us behind the steering wheel.

De grote boulevards in Miami Beach zoals Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue en Washington Avenue zijn top plaatsen om super en klassieke auto’s te zien. Op een terrasje aan Ocean Drive zie je excentrieken hun auto’s showen. Daar houden we wel van. 

Op onze foto’s zien we voorbeelden van een Corvette, een getunde Infinity, Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Ford Mustang, een Viper, Chevrolet en een Lamborghini. We hebben ook enkele oldtimers en onze gehuurde Chrysler Grand Voyager toegevoegd.

General Impressions of Miami Beach and cocktails

This time we flew to Miami with the Airbus A-380 from Air France. The company has a good reputation but in our opinion this is old glory. We were absolutely not pleased with the service and comfort in economy class.

Miami Beach has great walking promenades, shopping streets, Art Deco architecture and beaches. It is a pleasure to walk around and feel the fantastic ambiance. This comes however with a price, cocktails can be extremely expensive (always ask for the price) and don’t think too much. Go with the flow and have fun.

Deze keer vlogen we met de Airbus A-380 van Air France naar Miami. De luchtvaartmaatschappij heeft een goede reputatie maar naar onze mening is dit oude glorie. We waren absoluut niet tevreden met de dienstverlening en het comfort in de economie klasse. 

Miami Beach heeft ongelooflijke wandelpromenades, winkelstraten, Art Deco architectuur en stranden. Het is een plezier hier rond te wandelen en de fantastische atmosfeer op te snuiven. Dit gaat echter gepaard met een hoge prijs, cocktails kunnen heel duur zijn (vraag altijd eerst de prijs) en denk niet te veel na. Ga uit je bol en maak plezier.

Watching departing Cruise ships from the South Pointe Park Pier, Miami Beach

It is early afternoon and we are walking in the Miami port area which is full of super yachts. In the background we see the skyscrapers of Miami Downtown. The super yachts are for rent. In the window of a broker we see prices between 400.000$ and 750.000$ a week. Who can afford this?

It is time to go to South Pointe Park Pier, a fantastic place to walk and watch departing cruise ships. We advise you to look at the port schedule before to go, most ships leave around 5PM. The first big ship is the Celebrity Reflection, one of our favorites on which we booked a new cruise next year. The second ship is the Norwegian Escape, a bigger ship for freestyle young cruising. The last cruise ships is from Carnival, recognizable from its typical wing shaped chimney.

Het is vroeg in de namiddag en we wandelen in de binnenhaven van Miami Beach waar vele super jachten aangemeerd liggen. Op de achtergrond zien we de wolkenkrabbers van Miami centrum. De super jachten zijn ook te huur voor vakanties. Een makelaar adverteert prijzen tussen de 400.000$ en 750.000$ per week. Wie kan dit betalen? 

Het is tijd om naar South Pointe Park Pier te gaan, een fantastische plaats om de cruise schepen te zien vertrekken. We adviseren wel vooraf de vertrektijden op internet na te kijken want deze verschillen dag per dag. Meestal varen er schepen uit rond 17:00 uur. Het eerste grote schip is de Celebrity Reflection, één van onze favoriete schepen, waarop we een nieuwe cruise hebben geboekt volgend jaar. Het tweede schip is de Norwegian Escape, groter en voor een jonger freestyle publiek. Het laatste cruiseschip is van Carnival, te herkennen aan zijn typische vleugel vormige schouw.

Top American Steakhouse, Restaurant Prime One Twelve, Miami Beach

Restaurant Prime One Twelve is located at 112 Ocean Drive, close to the beating heart of the Miami Beach nightlife. From the exterior you couldn't see that this restaurant has a huge capacity. We already heard a lot of this expensive Steakhouse and had to give it a try. If you look on Tripadvisor, you can read mixed reviews from excelllent to poor but we were pleased.

When visiting high end restaurants in the US we adapt our expectations. Here we were looking for excellent meat and we received this, so no complaints. We started with a tartar and as second course a filet mignon or rib eye. The preparation, taste and quality of the meat were excellent. Just like the food menu, the wine was expensive. However, the restaurant is always packed so the owners price correctly if customer want to pay. The only negative point for us was the fast service and the noise of the crowded restaurant. We will certainly go back for a steak at lunch but this is not a romantic dinner spot.

Restaurant Prime One Twelve is gelegen op Ocean Drive 112, dicht bij het hart van het nachtleven in Miami Beach. Aan de buitenzijde zou je niet geloven dat dit restaurant zo'n grote capaciteit heeft. We hadden reeds gehoord over dit duur steakhouse en wilden het eens uitproberen. Als je op Tripadvisor kijkt zie je heel uiteenlopende recensies maar wij waren tevreden. 

Iedere keer als we betere restaurants in de VS bezoeken passen we ons verwachtingspatroon aan. Deze keer waren we gewoon op zoek naar uitstekende vleesbereidingen en dat hebben we ook gekregen, dus geen klachten. We begonnen met een rundstartaar en als tweede schotel een ossenhaas of rib eye. De bereiding, bakgraad, smaak en kwaliteit van het vlees waren uitstekend. Net als het eten was de wijnkaart duur. We moeten er wel bij zeggen dat de zaak vol zat, dus het restaurant vindt genoeg betalende klanten tegen deze prijs. Het enige negatieve voor ons was de snelle service en het lawaai in een volle zaal. We gaan er zeker terug voor een lunch maar dit is voor ons geen plaats voor een romantisch diner..
