Sgraffito wall coverings on the Schwarzenberg Palace, Prague

This Renaissance building from the 16th century is unique because of its sgraffito wall coverings. The brown walls are painted with black design and covered the whole front façade and inner courtyard. The palace is part of the National Gallery of Prague which owns several historical buidlings they use a museum. At the time we were there it was holding an exhibition of Baroque in Bohemia. We added some pictures of paintings and sculptures we liked.

Dit Renaissance gebouw uit de 16de eeuw is uniek omwille van zijn sgraffito fresco’s. De bruine muren zijn getekend met een zwart ontwerp en bedekken de volledige voorgevel en het binnenplein. Het Schwarzenberg paleis maakt deel uit van de Nationale Galerij van Praag, die verschillende gebouwen in de stad inricht als museum. Tijdens ons bezoek liep er een tentoonstelling over Barok in Bohemië. We hebben enkele schilderijen en standbeelden toegevoegd om u een indruk te geven..
