Old North Church, Boston

(Backlog of USA-Canada holiday articles)The Old North Church in Boston is the oldest church of the city and dates from 1723. It is located in North End in Salem Street. What is very special about this church with its white wooden interior are the chairs. They are located in wooden boxes that are called pews. In the late 18th century these pews were only for the rich. Wealthy families bought the box pews as a status symbol and could only be used by themselves.
