An evening walk through London Chinatown

Most world cities have a Chinese community which lives together in their own district called Chinatown. The most impressive Chinatown I have seen till now was in San Francisco but London's oriental suburb is also fascinating. If you like Asian food, I recommend you to visit on of these restaurants.

Walking through the streets of Chinatown you see the food buffets and pastries displayed behind the windows. An older lady is preparing dim sum while looking outside to a colourful pagoda. A bit further a glazed Peking Duck is hooked on the ceiling. This is the national dish of China and it takes more than 24 hours to prepare it.

Once you pass under the classic Chinese gates, you are in Chinatown. A different world, in the supermarket they speak Chinese. Above your head you see red shinny lampions, the lights above shops and restaurants speak to the imagination. What do you think of the advertising and product displays in the hairdresser shop? Enjoy your Chinatown evening visit, don't hesitate, it seems a very safe place and there are always many people visiting the restaurants.

  2. Wow, I think we missed this I happy you are sharing it here. I am a huge fan of Chinatowns, and been to as many as we could find. Dim Sum is it called, one of my favorite styles of eating, because often I don't know what it's called but by sight I know!
