Olympic Park of Barcelona tragedy

The Olympic Park of Barcelona which was the setting of the 1992 Olympic Games is still in good shape. That is the case for most of the facilities like the high capacity stadium for 65.000 people, Olympic grounds and the indoor swimming pools. The outdoor pools for diving competitions are in a terrible state. This is a pity.

The Stadium and other facilities were constructed for the World Expo of 1929 and the Games of 1936 but Barcelona was not awarded the Olympic Games until 1992. These facilities could not be used for 65 years, can you imagine what a tragedy this is!

We were so impressed with the stadium and the modern Olympic Spire. It is praiseworthy that the stadium is still in use for the second football team of Barcelona, "Espanyol". All Barcelona visitors should go to the Olympic Park at Montjuïc, you will not regret it. By the way the entry is free of charge.

  8. It looks like a beautiful area, but not too highly used. It looks nearly empty of people
