Having a drink in a mirror hall of 1839, Falk’s Bar, Munich

In the famous Munich Hotel the Bayerischer Hof, you have a mirror hall out of 1839. It is called Falk’s bar and the walls are so nicely decorated with sculptures. It is still the original room which survived the Second World War. The drinks are a bit expensive but people are friendly, you get some peanuts, dried fruit and sweets. Think about it, you are in fact contributing a bit to keep this beautiful room maintained.

Het beroemde Bayerischer Hof in München heeft een spiegelzaal die dateert uit 1839. Het wordt de Falk’s Bar genoemd en de muren zijn fantastisch gedecoreerd met beeldhouwwerken. Het is nog steeds de originele zaal die de Tweede Wereldoorlog heeft doorstaan. De drankjes zijn niet goedkoop maar de bediening is vriendelijk, je krijgt er nootjes, gedroogd fruit, en zoetjes bij. Bedenk wel dat je ook wat bijdraagt met je drankjes aan het onderhoud van deze mooie spiegelzaal..

Spectacular Blue Spa sky bar of the Bayerischer Hof hotel in Munich

The Bayerischer Hof is a 170 year old; five star hotel that has won many prestigious awards, it is know for the stylish Falk’s Bar located in their mirror hall constructed in 1839 and has a Michelin star restaurant. The Falk’s is a bar I certainly want to have a drink at in the future. A colleague, who knew the hotel took me up to the Blue Spa Bar and Lounge. She said this was the best because it is located at the top floor of the luxurious hotel with excellent views of Munich city centre. Arriving there, I could not believe it was so good. The views of the Frauenkirche and the city hall at the Marienplatz were just spectacular. It was too cold to sit outside and after taking a few photos; we enjoyed a glass of wine and some tea in the Blue spa top bar. They served the drinks with a bowl of dried fruit. I didn’t bring my swim gear, but there was also a swimming pool. It is a fabulous hotel but too expensive for my wallet to book a room. By the way, this was the hotel Michael Jackson always stayed in when he was in Munich.

Het Bayerischer Hof is een 170 jaar oud, 5 sterren hotel in München. Het heeft verschillende prestigieuze prijzen gewonnen en is zeer bekend om zijn stijlvolle Falk’s Bar met spiegelzaal gebouwd in het jaar 1839, hier willen we toch ooit eens iets gaan drinken. Het hotel heeft ook een restaurant met 1 Michelin ster. Een collega die het hotel reeds kende nam me mee naar de Blue Spa Bar en lounge. Volgens haar was dit de beste bar voor het uitstekende zicht over de binnenstad van München. Toen we er binnengingen kon ik mijn ogen niet geloven, zo goed was het. Het zicht op de Frauenkirche en het stadhuis op de Marienplatz zijn gewoon spectaculair. Het was te koud om buiten te zitten en na het nemen van een paar foto’s besloten we binnen een glas wijn en thee te drinken. Het werd geserveerd met een schaaltje gedroogd fruit. Er was ook een zwembad, maar ik had mijn zwembroek spijtig genoeg niet bij. Het hotel ziet er fantastisch uit maar toch wat te duur voor mijn portemonnee. Wist je trouwens dat Michael Jackson altijd hier logeerde wanneer hij in München was..
