Sail away with the Celebrity Equinox in Lisbon

Lisbon is one of the most beautiful ports of Europe to depart with a cruise. It is late afternoon and the sun is shining. You can see it is a big vessel with about 3.000 passengers. On the top deck you can sit on the lawn, overlooking the city center. Historical buildings and hill tops are floating by. We enjoy the views with a cocktail from the pool bar. Cheers.

Lissabon is één van de mooiste vertrekhavens in Europa. Het is late namiddag en de zon schijnt volop. Je ziet dat dit een groot cruise schip is met ongeveer drieduizend passagiers. Op het bovenste dek zitten we op het gras met zicht op de stad. Historische gebouwen en heuvels drijven voorbij. We genieten van een cocktailtje uit de zwembad bar. Proost.

Tour on the Celebrity Expedition

There she is, the Celebrity Expedition, a small cruise ship which residents permanently in the Galapagos. We are going to board and already see some animals: a pelican, a frigate and an iguana. We arrive with a high speed zodiac boat and see for the first time our small cabin in the bow of the ship. After fitting our wet suits and labeling them, we go on a deck for a meat and fish barbeque.

Daar is ze, de Celebrity Expedition, een klein cruise schip dat permanent op de Galapagos rondvaart. Voor we aan boort gingen zagen we nog enkele dieren: een pelikaan, een frigate en een leguaan. We komen er aan met een hoge snelheid zodiac en voor de eerste keer zien we onze kleine kajuit in de boeg van het schip. Na het passen en labelen van de wetsuits, worden we op het dek uitgenodigd voor een vlees en vis barbecue.

General Impressions of Alicante, a large city at the Costa Blanca

On our first picture you see the Celebrity Equinox in the port of Alicante. Most of the houses are built on the mountain slope and are small. Inside the city center and the beach promenade you find more modern shops, flats and nice looking historical buildings.

On our hike to the castle, we saw a wild rabbit. From the top you have excellent views over the city with its more than 300.000 inhabitants. This city in the region of Valencia is a good destination for a day trip or to be considered for pensioners.

Op onze eerste foto zie je de Celebrity Equinox in de haven van Alicante. De meeste huizen zijn gebouwd naar de bergkant toe en de huisjes zijn klein. In het centrum en op de strand promenade vind je meer moderne appartementen, winkels en mooie historische gebouwen. 

Wandelend naar het kasteel, zagen we een wild konijn. Op de bergtop heb je uitstekende zichten over de stad met zijn meer als 300.000 inwoners. Deze stad in de regio van Valencia is een goede bestemming voor een dagtrip en een overweging waard voor mensen die in Spanje op pensioen willen gaan.

Champagne on the helipad, watching Allure of the Seas in St. Maarten

The Allure of the Seas is a ship of the Royal Caribbean Oasis class and has a maximum capacity of 6.400 passengers. It is one of the biggest cruise ships of the world. As Elite Plus members of Celebrity Cruises, we were invited for a glass of champagne on the helicopter path of the Eclipse.

From here we are going to experience the departure out of the port of St. Maarten, most likely our favorite port of the Caribbean. The Allure of the Seas is just incredible. The height of the ceilings and size of the suites are impressive. What a ship.

In the port we also saw some exclusive yachts. These must be from very rich people. There were five major cruise ships in port and this is not surprising given the facilities available on the island.

De Allure of the Seas van de Royal Caribbean Oasis klasse heeft een maximum capaciteit van 6.400 passagiers. Het is één van de grootste cruise schepen ter wereld. Als Elite Plus leden bij Celebrity Cruises, waren we uitgenodigd op het helikopterpad voor een glas champagne tijdens de afvaart.

Van hier uit konden we volop genieten van het afscheid van St. Maarten, één van onze favoriete Caribische eilanden. De Allure of the Seas is ongelooflijk. De hoogte en grote van de suites zijn indrukwekkend. Wat een cruise schip. 

In de haven zagen we ook enkele exclusieve jachten. Dit moeten toch heel rijke mensen zijn. Er waren vijf grote cruise schepen in de haven en dit was niet verrassend daar het eiland heel veel te bieden heeft.
