Ghent St Nicholas Church - Gent St-Niklaas kerk

This Church in Ghent is one of the most beautiful historical buildings of the City. The church is accessible to all visitors and staff present are friendly and professional. The Church was build around 1100 and parts were added during the 13th century. In 1957 the church was renovated. It is mainly build in the Gothic style. The church holds many altars and an organ from the mid 19th century. There are also two unique stained glass artworks from Mr. J.B. Capronnier (1851-1860). Certainly worth a visit.

Deze kerk in Gent is een van de mooiste monumenten van de stad. Ze is toegankelijk voor iedereen en het personeel is vriendelijk en zeer professioneel. De kerk werd gebouwd rond 1100 en andere stukken werden er aan toegevoegd gedurende de 13de eeuw. In 1957 werd de kerk gerestaureerd. De hoofstijl is Gotisch, de kerk heeft ook verschilende altaars en een uniek orgel uit het midden van de 19de eeuw. In de kerk zijn er ook twee unieke glasramen kunstwerken van Dhr. J.B. Capronnier (1851-1860). Zeker een bezoekje waard.

Historical Buildings of Ghent

The old city of Ghent is a treasure with historical buildings like here at the Leie where we also find the "Loft" from the soap series "Louis-Louise". Located in the city center are the three towers: the Saint-Baafs Cathedral (which holds the painting of "Lam Gods" from the brothers "Van Eyck"), the Saint Nicholas church (see next blog article) and the Belfort tower. Next to this you find the City Hall and the "Rijksarchief".

Somewhat further in the area of the "Patershol" (a mideval part of the city with many restaurants) you also find a castle called "Steen" and the Saint-Jacob Church.

Gent is een stad vol met mooie historische gebouwen zoals hier aan de Leie waar ook de loft uit de Telenovelle Louis-Louise gelegen is. Op een centraal plein in de stad vind je de drie torens van de Sint-Baafskathedraal (met het lam gods van de gebroeders Van Eyck), de Sint-Niklaaskerk (zie volgends blogartikel) en het Belfort. Hiernaast staat ook het stadhuis. Nabij gelegen staat ook het rijksarchief.

Even verderop, nabij het Patershol, een pitoreske middeleeuwse buurt met veel restaurants heb je ook het Steen (een burcht) en de Sint-Jacobskerk.

Münchner Christkindlmarkt - Christmas Market Munich

The "Münchner Christkindlmarkt"or the Christmas market is enchanting. Lights everywhere, small wooden shops on the street selling Christmas souvenirs, winter clothing, candles and many more. The Glühwein and Beer are richly available. Cheers.

Marienplatz is right in the heart of Munich. The main building on Marienplatz is the Town Hall with its 85 meter high tower. It was build at the end of the 19th century in Gothic style. The carillon with 42 bells and 32 copper statues come to live at noon and at five. This is one of main tourist attractions of Munich. The other building in the pictures is the old Town Hall build in the 15th century.

The pictures of the colourful buildings were taken in the Kaufingerstrasse. This is the main shopping street of Munich. It is a dream for everyone that likes shopping. There you can find all you desire, designer clothing, sourvenirs, electronics, huge high quality department stores... Don't leave your wife alone here, and certainly not with your credit card.

De kerstmarkt van München is betoverend. Er zijn overal lichtjes en houten stalletjes op iedere hoek van de straat. Hier worden kerstbenodigdheden, kaarsen, souveniers, winterkledij en vele andere zaken verkocht. Glüwein en bier zijn overal beschikbaar, op u gezondheid.

Marienplatz ligt in het hartje van München. Het hoofdgebouw op deze marktplaats is het stadhuis met zijn 85 meter hoge toren. Het is gebouwd op het eind van de 19de eeuw in Gotische stijl. In de toren vind je het "carillon"met zijn 42 belletjes en 32 koperen figuren. Deze komen meermaals per dag tot leven om 12 en 17 uur. Dit is een van de belangrijkste toeristische attracties van de stad. Het andere gebouw op de markt is het oude stadhuis dat werd gebouwd in de 15de eeuw.

De foto's van het gebouw in verschillende kleuren is genomen in de Kaufingerstrasse. Dit is de hoofdwinkelstraat van München. Een droom voor elkeen die graag winkelt. Je kan er alles vinden, merkkledij, souvenirs, elektronische apparatuur, hoge kwaliteit supermarkten....Laat je vrouw hier niet alleen en zeker niet met je kredietkaart.

Basiliek Oudenbosch, Nederland

The Basilica of Oudenbosch was build on the initiative of father Willem Hellmons between 1865 and 1892. The Basilica is a small copy of the St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. The Basilica has been renovated and is really worth a visit.

De Basiliek H.H. Agatha en Barbara in Oudenbosch werd gebouwd door Pastoor Willem Hellemons tussen 1865 en 1892. De basiliek is een kopie van de St. Pieter te Rome maar op kleinere schaal. De Basiliek is zeer mooi gerestaureerd en echt de moeite om te bezoeken..
