Restaurant Como Yan Sushi, good quality Japanese cuisine

This sushi restaurant is decorated with modern art work and white flowers. We like this style. When traveling we try to find good Japanese restaurants and have a sushi for lunch. We selected the salmon and shrimp tartar, and some sushi and sashimi tastings. We would return to the Como Yan Sushi restaurant.

Dit restaurant is gedecoreerd met modern schilderijen en witte bloemen, een stijl waarvan we houden. Tijdens het reizen trachten we goede Japanse restaurants te ontdekken om ’s middags eens een sushi te eten. Deze keer kozen we voor een zalm en garnaal tartaar, en wat sushi en sashimi proevertjes. We zouden nog terug gaan naar het Como Yan Sushi restaurant.

Restaurant Watatsumi on Plaza Espagna, Barcelona

On the roof of the Arenas on Plaza Espagna, you find many restaurants. One is a good Japanese called Watatsumi. This restaurant can be combined with a visit to the Arenas shopping center and from above you have spectacular views of the Venetian Towers and the National Palace.

Let's go back to the restaurant. It has a modern interior with fantastic bar. They use a lot of fish images in the decorations, which blends in perfectly with the style of the Japanese cuisine.

We decided to start with some warm Dim Sums something Kristel really likes and a tuna tartar. As a main course we had the teriyaki salmon and a bento box combining sushi and sashimi. We can recommend this restaurant which serves quality food at fair prices.

Op het dak van de Arenas op Plaza Espagna, vind je vele restaurants. Eén daarvan is een goede Japanner, Watatsumi genaamd. Het restaurant kan worden gecombineerd met een bezoek aan het Arenas winkelcentrum en van boven heb je spectaculaire zichten op de Venetiaanse Torens en het Nationaal Paleis.

Maar laat ons terug gaan naar het restaurant. Het heeft een modern interieur en een fantastische bar. Men gebruikt er visdecoratie wat perfect past bij de stijl van de Japanse keuken. 

We besloten te starten met warme Dim Sum, iets dat Kristel heel graag eet, en een tonijn tartaar. Als hoofdgerecht kozen we voor teriyaki zalm en een bentobox die sushi en sashimi combineerde. We kunnen dit restaurant, dat goede kwaliteit tegen eerlijke prijzen aanbiedt, zeker aanbevelen.

Modern budget sushi interpretation at Planet Sushi, Marseille

We love sushi and found this contemporary chain of restaurants in Marseille by coincidence. It was close to our hotel and had extended opening hours. The restaurant looks modern and flashy. Staff is customer oriented and very friendly, an outstanding achievement compared to some other restaurants in Marseille.

Planet Sushi has about 150 restaurants predominantly in France. We like the interior design of the restaurant, bar and food corner. As food selection we had the tempura shrimps, some dim sum, chicken, tuna tartare, sashimi from salmon and seabass, and sushi rolls. During our stay in Marseille we visited the restaurant three times. It is easy to conclude we were very satisfied.

Wij houden van sushi en vonden deze moderne restaurantketen in Marseille bij toeval. Het was nabij ons hotel gelegen met ruime openingsuren. Het restaurant ziet er modern en flashy uit. Het personeel is klantgericht en heel vriendelijk, een uitstekende prestatie in vergelijking met sommige andere restaurants in Marseille. 

Planet Sushi heeft ongeveer 150 restaurants voornamelijk in Frankrijk. Het interieur, bar en eethoekje valt ons in de smaak. Uit de uitgebreide menukaart kozen we voor tempura garnalen, dim sum, kip, tonijntartaar, sashimi van zalm en zeebaars, en enkele sushi rollen. Tijdens ons verblijf in Marseille bezochten we het restaurant drie keer. Het is duidelijk te concluderen dat we heel tevreden waren.

Experimental Japanese restaurant Gochi, St. Julians

When travelling, we occasionally try to find a Japanese restaurant. In St. Julians, restaurant Gochi was ranked reasonably high on Tripadvisor popularity index so we made reservations.

We were in for a chock. The restaurant was managed by a young wild bunch. This multicultural group of youngsters took the initiative to create a restaurant from nothing. The tables are all different, there are some old couches and the roof is just a wooden cover. Very experimental and daring.

The improvised, low cost restaurant infrastructure had its impact on the price. It was a lot cheaper than other Japanese restaurants and the people were friendly. The quality of the sushi was good. We would recommend restaurant Gochi to young people exploring Malta and St. Julians.

Al reizende proberen we af en toe te eten in een Japans restaurant. In St. Julians stond restaurant Gochi redelijk hoog gerangschikt op Tripadvisor populariteitsindex dus reserveerden we een tafel.

We waren in voor een verrassing. Het restaurant werd uitgebaat door een jonge wilde bende. Deze groep multiculturele jongeren namen het initiatief een restaurant te creëren uit niets. De tafels zijn allemaal verschillend, er staan enkele oude banken en het plafond is afgedekt met houten takken. Zeer experimenteel en gedurfd. 

De geïmproviseerde, lage kosten infrastructuur had toch zijn impact op de prijs. Het was veel goedkoper dan in andere Japanse restaurants en de bediening was vriendelijk. De kwaliteit van de sushi was goed. Wij kunnen restaurant Gochi aanbevelen aan jongeren die die St. Julians en Malta ontdekken.

Excellent Japanese Cuisine in Restaurant Umo, Barcelona

Restaurant Umo at Plaza Espagna in Barcelona is most likely the best price quality Japanese restaurant we ever visited. The restaurant has a modern look, friendly staff and a very good wine card. The food as well as the wines are at fair prices for a major city like Barcelona. This is one of our top recommendations in the city when you like the Japanese Cuisine.

We were with four guests and shared several dishes which were the most appealing to us. A salmon tartar covered with fish eggs. A beef tartar with egg in the middle, the meats looks a bit odd because it was marinated in a sauce. At first sight we were not convinced but the taste was excellent. After this we shared an excellent sushi and sashimi combination platter.

We were very impressed and ordered another bottle of wine and tried a few more dishes. First a type of ceviche, a beef Carpaccio and a piece of salmon grilled on a lava stone. This grilling process gave it so much taste, it was extraordinary. We didn't try the lava stone grilled Wagyu because it was the end of the evening. In April we are again in Barcelona and will taste it. Restaurant Umo is on our Barcelona short list.

De restaurant heeft een moderne uitstraling, vriendelijke bediening en een heel uitgebreide wijnkaart. Zowel de gerechten als wijnen worden aangeboden aan eerlijke prijzen voor een grootstad zoals Barcelona. Dit is één van onze top aanbevelingen in de stad als je van de Japanse keuken houdt.

We waren met een groepje van vier personen en deelden de gerechten die ons het meeste aanspraken. Een zalmtartaar bedekt met viseitjes. Een rundstartaar met ei in het midden, het vlees lijkt wat raar daar het in een saus was gemarineerd. Na een eerste aanblik stelden we ons grote vragen bij dit gerecht maar de smaak was uitstekend. Hierna deelden we een grote sushi en sashimi schotel. 

Sterk onder de indruk bestelden we een tweede fles wijn en gingen we nog wat proeven. Eerst een soort Ceviche, daarna een rundscarpaccio en een stukje zalm gegrild op lava steen. Dit grill proces geeft de vis en het vlees meer smaak, het was buitengewoon. We konden de Wagyu lava grill niet meer proberen daar het reeds laat op de avond was. In april zijn we terug in Barcelona en gaan we dit zeker uitproberen. Restaurant Umo staat op onze Barcelona voorkeur restaurantlijst.

Restaurant Tatsu in the Intercontinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur

We really like Japanese restaurants and Tatsu is one of the best we have ever tried. It is located in the Intercontinental Hotel of Kuala Lumpur, has a modern look and nice wine bar. We selected a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc “Ventisquero” from the Casablanca Valley in Chile. The reason we selected this wine was that we recently drove through the same valley in Chile. We didn’t doubt.

We started with sushi and sashimi, a soup and lightly fried duck filet and a marinated baked salmon. As main course we had the sushi from the chef. We finished with fruit and Earl Grey Tea ice cream. A very successful evening.

Tatsu remembered us of one of our favorite roller coasters in Six Flags Magic Mountain Valencia, California. It is the highest and fastest flying coaster in the world.

We houden van Japanse restaurants en Tatsu is één van de beste die we ooit hebben geprobeerd. Het restaurant is gelegen in het Intercontinental Hotel van Kuala Lumpur, heeft een moderne uitstraling en een leuke wijnbar. We kozen voor een fles Sauvignon Blanc van de Casablanca vallei in Chili. De reden voor deze keuze was dat we deze regio onlangs nog bezocht hebben. We twijfelden geen seconde.

Als voorgerechten kozen we voor sushi en sashimi, een soep en licht gekookte eenden filet, en kort gebakken gemarineerde zalm. Als hoofdgerecht kozen we voor sushi van de Chef. We eindigden met fruit en een ijsje van Earl Grey thee. Een succesrijke avond. 

Tatsu herinnerde ons aan één van onze favoriete achtbanen in Six Flags Magic Mountains Valencia, California. Het is een hoogste en snelste vliegende achtbaan ter wereld.
