Flowers in Singapore. Trying out my new Vitacon Macro Lens.

In 2013, I bought my first good camera, a Nikon D7100 with AF-S Nikkor 18-200 mm lens. After about 1,5 years I still do not know the ins and outs of the camera but learned a few things. The two most frequent situations I would like to improve were Macro photography and food pictures. In Singapore, we bought a Vitacon combination Lens (Macro and 72mm wide angle) which improves both types of photography.

The pictures below show examples of shots taken with the macro lens. When taking the pictures you need to stay still and come really close to your subject. Taking normal pictures with this lens is impossible. We are pleased with the results.

In 2013, kocht ik mijn eerste goede camera, een Nikon D7100 met AF-S Nikkor 18-200mm lens. Na ongeveer 1,5 jaar ken ik nog niet alle mogelijkheden van de camera maar leerde toch wel wat bij. De meest frequente situaties waar ik in wilde verbeteren waren macro fotografie en gastronomie foto’s. In Singapore hebben we een Vitacon combinatie lens (Macro en 72mm breed hoek) gekocht die beide soorten fotografie kan verbeteren. 

De foto’s hieronder tonen enkele voorbeelden van kiekjes getrokken met de macro lens. Als je de foto’s trekt dien je heel dicht bij het onderwerp te zijn en je camera stil te houden. Normale foto’s kan je echter niet met deze lens trekken. We zijn tevreden met het resultaat.

Practising macro photography at the Rosengarten, Rostock

The Rosengarten near the Steintor in Rostock is not a small garden but a reasonable size park. It has enormous grass fields, lots of flowers, grind walking areas and several fountains. For me this was a good opportunity to practise macro photography again. I am pleased of the picture of the red flower with the yellow style and filaments. While taking many close-up shots of the complex structure of the white flower with the bee on, my wife thought I was losing my senses. What are you doing and why does it take so long, you already took 20 pictures of this flower. My reply was short, the bee is not sharp enough, it is always flying away, and it doesn’t want to cooperate.

De Rosengarten dichtbij de Steintor in Rostock is geen kleine tuin maar een heus park. Er zijn enorme grote grasvelden, veel bloemen, grind wandelpaden en verschillende fonteinen. Dit was een mooie gelegenheid om mijn macro fotografie terug te oefenen. Terugblikkend ben ik zeer tevreden over de foto van de rode bloem met zijn gele stamper en meeldraden. Toen ik vele close-up foto’s nam van de complex gestructureerde witte bloem met de bij erop, vroeg Kristel haar af wat ik in godsnaam aan het uitspoken was. Wat doe je daar en waarom duurt het zolang, je hebt al wel twintig foto’s getrokken van die ene bloem. Mijn antwoord was kort, de bij is niet scherp genoeg, ze vliegt steeds weg, en wil niet meewerken..
