The church of our Lady with its Belfry in Tongeren

This church received a special status from the Pope and is now a Basilica. It was built in the Gothic style and opened in 1240. Three hundred years later the 64 metres high Belfry was added to the church. On the top of the tower you see the Belgian flag blowing in the wind. The Basilica is listed on the world heritage list of UNESCO. Inside the church you find beautiful sculptures, large windows with stained glass and paintings. What is more unique is the golden eagle holding a bible just behind the altar. On the left side there is a special altar with flowers for Our Lady. There is also a possibility to go into the garden, walking via an arched gallery.

  7. You are travelling a lot I see. Interesting, I like to see other places. Diane mentioned she had a visitor from Almere, but you only visited my place I saw. I haven't been in the hotel yet, only saw it from the car. I am curious what places you visited in Almere.
