Taking a boat trip in the old port of Hong Kong

In the port of Hong Kong you see all kind of boats: ferries, cruise ships, yachts and above all fascinating traditional wooden vessels. It's such a wooden sampan we hired and the captain looked like he just stepped out of a Chinese action movie. Where did we end up? In the old part of the harbour cargo ships are docked next to the high rise apartment blocks.

In de haven van Hong Kong zie je allerlei boten: ferry's, cruise schepen, jachten en boven alles de fascinerende traditionele houten vaartuigen. Het was zo'n Sampan die we huurden en de kapitein leek net uit een Chinese actiefilm te zijn gestapt. Waar zijn we nu beland? In de oude haven liggen vrachtschepen aangemeerd bij torenhoge appartementsblokken.

    These boats are all so strange and unusual! And sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between a boat and a building. My very favorite is the last picture with the flags on the boats in front of the skyscrapers, one of your best!!

    The old and the new side by side. Great shots of the cargo boats and towers. We did a boat trip like that. The driver was a woman and she had a stove on the boat and she was cooking dinner while taking us on a tour. Hilarious.
