Mix of paintings in the cultural museum of Manta, Ecuador

The city of Manta is our first stop in Ecuador and we start with a museum. It was on our way to the beach so we had to take a look. It is managed by the Central Bank and the entrance is free of charge. There were almost no visitors.

A part of the paintings collection focusses on the Inca heritage. The paintings provide a clear picture of day to day life and are rather explicit. From an art perspective we have our doubts on the difficulty level. On the other hand there were also detailed modern paintings and French inspired works. A large mix of different styles. The puppets and stone circle were unique.

  1. Lots of good things to look at here! I like the girl's face in two halves, and I like the one right after the ring of stones. I like the colors, and I feel if I stare at it long enough, it will actually make something. Is it actually something in a kind of modern view, or is it interpretive?
