Windows to the trains at Budapest Central Station

Most people arrive in a big city by train and we were expecting more visitors in the Central Station. It was however a Sunday so less professional commuters. In the morning it was rather cold so we had to carry our jacket. Its early afternoon now and most clouds are chased away.

The Central Station has a fascinating two colored facade with many statues. Both left and right in yellow simple construction but in the middle superb architecture with enormous glass surfaces. Windows are curved and decorated with metal art work. The inside of the station holds a huge hall were the trains arrive.

In een grootstad arriveren de meeste mensen per trein dus hadden we meer reizigers in het station verwacht. Het was echter zondag, dus minder huis werk pendelaars. 'S morgens was het nog koud dus moesten we ons jasje dragen. Nu, in de vroege namiddag zijn de meest wolken weggejaagd. 

Het Centraal Station heeft een fascinerende twee kleurige gevel met veel beeldhouwwerken. Zowel links en rechts een eenvoudige gele constructie maar in het midden een super architecturaal hoogstandje met enorme oppervlaktes glaswerk. De ramen zijn gebogen en versierd met metaal kunstwerk. Binnen in het station is er één grote hal waar de treinen aankomen.

Look behind you, it is worth it, Central Station of Amsterdam

Currently there are some road works in front of the Central Station so it was not possible to provide complete overview pictures. The façade is so brilliant that we found it could not be skipped on our blog. Just judge for yourself, it is clean, restored, has many detailed sculptures and an amazing clock. The interior is noting special so our pictures are focussing on the exterior. Most people arrive in Amsterdam via this train station, have a look behind you when you exit the station, it is well worth it.

Momenteel zijn er wegenwerken op het plein voor het Centraal Station dus was het niet mogelijk volledige overzichtsfoto te maken. De voorgevel is zo briljant dat we het niet na konden laten deze foto’s te publiceren op onze blog. Oordeel zelf, het is proper, gerenoveerd, bevat veel gedetailleerde beeldhouwwerken en heeft een ongelooflijk mooie klok. Het interieur is niet bijzonder dus focussen onze foto’s op de buitenkant. De meeste mensen komen aan in Amsterdam via dit treinstation. Als je het station verlaat, kijk eens achter u, het is het waard..

Central Station in Copenhagen, going back to the era of bicycles

Standing on a bridge you see the trains entering the covered outdoor platforms of the Copenhagen main train station. The arched metal roof looks great from above and underneath it. Parts of the station are very modern and occasionally you see some graffiti. What surprised us the most was the overkill of bicycles, they were everywhere. It was like going back in time. Where are the cars?

Van op een brug zien we de treinen de overdekte perrons van het Centraal station van Kopenhagen binnenrijden. De booggewelven van het metalen dak zien er groots uit van op deze brug, maar ook als je er onder staat. Delen van het station zijn zeer modern en af en toe zie je wat graffiti. We waren verrast van de hoeveelheid fietsen op het voetpad., ze waren gewoon overal. Het leek wel alsof we terug gingen in de tijd. Waar zijn de auto’s.?

Central Station, Antwerp - Centraal Station, Antwerpen

Located on "Astridplein" in Antwerp you find the historical entrance of Antwerp's central station. This station is very special because of the eclectic building style. This style is a combination of historical treasures and modern elements. The trains enter and leave the station on three floors. The present meets the past via a steel roofing that covers the platforms. The roofing is 186m long and 43m high. This is the most interesting train station I have ever seen.

Op het Astridplein in Antwerpen vind je de historische ingang van het centraal station. Het station is heel speciaal omwille van zijn eclectische bouwstijl. Deze stijl combineert historische en moderne elementen tot een geheel. De treinen rijden het station binnen en uit op drie verdiepingen. Het verleden ontmoet de toekomst via een stalen perronoverkapping van 43m hoog en 186m lang. Dit is het meest interessante station dat ik ooit heb gezien..

In the station you find many Jewellery shops. Antwerp is the Diamond capital of the world. In the area you see many people in traditional Jewish clothing. Most of these families work in the diamond industry.

In het station vind je veel juweliers. Antwerpen is dan ook de diamant hoofdstad van de wereld. In de omgeving zie je veel Joodse mensen in traditionele kledij. De meeste van deze families werken in de diamant industrie.
