Renting super cars for 15 minutes in Singapore

Singapore is an expensive city and taxes on cars are extremely high. Nevertheless we saw Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche and many Lamborghinis. At the Marina Bay Sands Hotel you can even rent a Lamborghini per fifteen minutes. It is called the ultimate drive. I was almost convinced to try it out but it was rather expensive, about 350 euro. On the other hand, where will we ever have the opportunity again to drive such a car?

Singapore is een heel dure stad en de belastingen op wagens zijn extreem hoog. Niet tegenstaande zagen we Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche en vele Lamborghini wagens. Aan het Marina Bay Sands Hotel kan je zelfs een Lamborghini huren per vijftien. Het noemt de Ultimate Drive. Ik was bijna overtuigd een ritje te boeken maar het koste ongeveer 350 euro. Het leek me toch heel veel geld maar waar ga je ooit nog zo'n kans krijgen?

Spotting super cars in London

A super car is a boys dream and in a rich city like London, you see many of luxury and sports cars. During the summer holiday period, young car lovers from the Middle East fly-over their cars to spend a few weeks in the UK capital. Also in other seasons you see cars with Arab number plates.

One of the recommended places to spot super cars is on the Mall and in front of Harrods. We saw many interesting vehicles like the typical English cabs and mini's but also the real super cars like Porsche, Maserati, TVR, Rolls Royce and Ferrari.

When we go to London, Kristel goes shopping in Harrods and I spot cars in front of the store. Isn't that a good deal.

Een super auto is een droom van elke jonge man en in een rijke stad zoals Londen zie je veel van deze luxe en sportwagens rijden. Tijdens de zomervakanties, vliegen rijke autofanaten uit het Midden Oosten hun auto's over naar Londen om hier enkele weken plezier te maken. Ook tijdens andere maanden zie je nog auto's met Arabische nummerplaten.

Onze aanbevolen plaatsen om zulke wagens te zien is op de Mall en aan Harrods. We zagen enkele leuke traditionele Londense Taxi's en Mini's maar ook super wagens zoals Porsche, Maserati, TVR, Rolls Royce en Ferrari. 

Als we naar Londen gaan, mag Kristel gaan winkelen in Harrods en ik blijf wel buiten op straat auto's fotograferen. Is dat geen goede afspraak?

Kuala Lumpur by night, a must for every tourist

The Petronas Towers are impressive during the day but in the dark with the lights on, it is out of this world. We passed by so many evenings and every time we had to stop, look at the towers, walk next to the fountains, look up again when we progressed for the next hundred meters. From our hotel we had excellent views on the Petronas Towers and enjoyed a drink from the outdoor terrace.

In this district almost all the high rise buildings have light displays and fancy colors. Walking a few kilometers at night after dinner or visiting a bar is a must. You see so many interesting towers, super cars, houses and bridges. Don't worry about safety, you feel the friendliness in the streets and there is also discipline with the evening presence of a police force.

De Petronas Towers zijn indrukwekkend tijdens het daglicht maar 's avonds wordt het nog spectaculairder, gewoon niet van deze wereld. We kwamen hier zoveel avonden voorbij en steeds keken we naar boven, naar de torens, naar de fonteinen en enkele meters verder opnieuw. De drang hiervoor was zo groot. Van op het terras in ons hotel hadden we een uitstekend zicht op de Petronas Towers en genoten we soms van een avondmutsje. 

In deze wijk zijn heel veel hoge gebouwen met sierverlichting en gekke kleuren. Enkele kilometers gaan wandelen na het avondeten of het bezoeken van een bar is een must. Je ziet er veel interessante torens, super auto's, huizen en bruggen. Maak je geen zorgen over de veiligheid bij nacht, je voelt dat de omgeving vriendelijkheid en respect uitstraalt. Discipline is er ook met een avond politiemacht.

The Berlin Ampelmann and super cars in the capital of Germany

Berlin is known for its pedestrian traffic lights. You find them everywhere in Europe but the image of the green walking man of Berlin has a special design. Berlin was also one of the first cities in Europe that introduced the pedestrian traffic lights on a large scale. The term “Ampelmann” or translated traffic light man is very popular in the city. On one of the pictures you see advertising for a shop and restaurant with a similar name.

When there is a need for traffic lights, there are lots of cars. At the cars, you immediately see there are many rich people in Berlin. Here is a list of super and historical cars we saw: Ferrari, Bentley, the historical Trabant, Lotus, Bugatti Veron and a Bentley (in a car dealership) and a Corvette. My preference goes out to the brown Bentley or the Ferrari.

The Bugatti has a fuel consumption on about 1 litre per 3km and a price between 1and 2 million euro, this depends on the options. Who buys these cars?

Berlijn is gekend om zijn voetgangers verkeerslichten. Je vindt ze overal in Europa maar in Berlijn heeft het lampje van de wandelende groene man een bijzonder ontwerp. Berlijn was tevens één van de eerste steden in Europa die voetgangerslichten op grote schaal introduceerde. De uitdrukking “Ampelmann” wordt letterlijk vertaald in het verkeerslicht mannetje en is zeer populair in de stad. Op de tweede foto zie je een auto met reclame voor een “Ampelmann” restaurant en winkel. 

Waar men voetgangerslichten nodig is er veel verkeer. Aan de auto’s kan je onmiddellijk zien dat er rijke mensen zijn in Berlijn. Hier is de lijst van super cars and oldtimers die we op onze wandelingen hebben gezien: Ferrari, Bentley, de oude Trabant, Bugatti Veron (in een winkel) en een Corvette. Mijn voorkeur gaat uit naar de bruine Bentley en de Ferrari. 

De Bugatti verbruikt ongeveer 30 liter per 100 km en 40 liter in de stad. Hij kost tussen de 1 en 2 miljoen euro afhankelijk van het optiepakket en land waar je hem koopt. Wie kan zich zoiets veroorloven..

Oldtimers and super cars in the streets of Miami Beach

Miami Beach is not only the city of Art Deco and good looking people. Sexy girls, super models, muscular men and high society in general goes togehter with top cars. Many of the bars and restaurants try to contribute to this image by parking oldtimers or nice cars in front of their business. It gives nice opportunities for pictures in the evening.

Most oldtimers can be spotted on Collins Avenue or Washington Avenue. If you want to see the super cars go to Ocean Drive in the evening. It is almost a parade of super cars like on a catwalk during a fashion show. You see there Lamborghini, Ferrari and lots of Camaro's.

Miami Beach is niet enkel de stad van Art Deco en attractieve mensen. Sexy vrouwen, fotomodellen, gespierde mannen en de rijken der aarde hebben meestal top auto's. Vele restaurants en bars trachten aan dit stadsbeeld bij te dragen door een oldtimer of een mooie wagen voor hun zaak te parkeren. Hierdoor kan je 's avonds mooie foto's maken. 

Deze meeste oldtimers kunnen worden gespot op Collins Avenue en Washington Avenue. Als je echter super auto's wil zien, moet je 's avonds naar Ocean Drive gaan. Het lijkt soms wel op een parade van top wagens, net zoals een catwalk in een modeshow. Je ziet er Lamborghini, Ferrari en veel Camaro's..
