Getting lost in the Englischer Garten in Munich

This is certainly not the first time I visit the Englischer Garten in Munich but it is so large, that you easily lose your way. I tried to visit a few of the famous locations in the park but this was not successful. I only found the Chinese Tower (Chinesischer Turm) and two summer biergartens. Even this was already an achievement, I had to ask several people for directions and each time they pointed in other directions. The Englischer Garten originates from 1777 and is one of the largest men created parks in the world. In my quest for sightseeing, I didn’t find the Monopteros, the Japanese tea house (Japanisches Teehaus) and the Amphitheatre. On my way to the park, I came via the U-Bahn station Giselastrasse and there I discovered the Running Man. This is a giant statue of a man running in front of an Office building. It is enormous, white and shinny. Many people stop there to take pictures. A nice piece of art to check out on your way to the Englsicher Garten. Good luck in finding your way around.

  6. I remember seeing a similar giant statue in another part of Munich. That outdoor cafe reminds me of Central Park with the lake. Looks like a lovely place to have lunch.
