Mixed feelings about Restaurant Savarin in Rijswijk

Once every six months we visit Restaurant Savarin in Rijswijk. It is nearby and sometimes we are so pleased that we try to understand why this restaurant hasn’t got a Michelin star. For years now it is recommended in the Michelin guide with three forks. This time however, their performance was a bit weaker. The starter with lobster and chicken was very small and didn’t even contain the lobster tail. The taste was really good. The langoustine starter was even smaller with only one single piece. For the main course we had scallops. Expecting it could be a soup we inquired with the host and he indicated it was a bouillon sauce. When it was served, it was indeed a soup. This was the third disappointment of the evening. For my dessert I took a chance with the cold goose liver. This was very good. The wine selection was up to the expectations. Why the mixed feelings? Two out of three times the restaurant is very good, are we going to try it again?

Iedere zes maanden bezoeken we Restaurant Savarin in Rijswijk.

  1. Now it really shows why you don't get any additional weight despite of eating out a lot...:=) The portions are not meant to add any gram or calories at all...

  2. The food looks tasty although small in portion, but I guess that is to be expected at fancy restaurants. Perhaps make your opinions known to the host. Maybe other people have the same complaints to prevent it from getting higher ratings.

  8. Nice food presentation. I would love to try the cold goose liver. Ya, the portion looks a bit small but then most fancy restaurant serve their food in small portion. I will go back just because they have good wine selection:D
