A walk in the snow through the Warandepark, Brussels

Warande Park in the city centre of Brussels is located near the Wetstraat and the Royal Palace. It was cold, the ground was covered with snow and pigeons approached us, hoping to get some bread. We didn’t expect this and were a bit disappointed we couldn’t give them any food. The winter can be hard and cruel for birds.

The park contains a fountain, several statues and above all modern art related to subjects close the heart of the people of Brussels or Belgium. Topics we see are: sprouts, frites, mussels, newspapers, beer and the Flemish lion. We wonder how this park would look like in the summer. We will try to go back and show it to you.

Het Warandepark in het centrum van Brussel is gelegen bij de Wetstraat en het Koninklijk paleis. Het was bar koud en alles ondergesneeuwd. Vele duiven kwamen naar ons toe in de hoop wat brood te krijgen, maar we hadden niets mee genomen. Dit deed pijn in het hart, wat kan de winter toch wreed zijn voor dieren in de natuur. 

In het park vind je fonteinen, standbeelden en boven alles moderne kunst in het hart van de Brusselaars en Belgen. Onderwerpen die we kunnen onderscheiden zijn: spruitjes, frieten, mosselen, kranten, bier en de Vlaamse Leeuw. We vragen ons af hoe het park er zou uit zien in de zomer. We zullen zeker terug keren en het aan u tonen..
