Celebrity Eclipse not allowed to dock in the port of St. Thomas

We arrive as scheduled at St. Thomas, the capital of the US Virgin Islands. The Celebrity Eclipse reduces speed before approaching the island and seems to turn into the other direction. Another cruise ship is docked in our spot and in other places is the water not deep enough for the Celebrity Eclipse. This seems to be a mistake from the port authorities. As a consequence, the captain decided to disembark all passengers via a tender service using the life boats. Many people were moaning but without reason because Celebrity came up with an efficient solution given the circumstances.

There were three cruise ships in the port: the Carnival Dream, the Celebrity Eclipse and the Disney Fantasy. With the sailing boats, the occasional water plane and all our life boats, there was quiet some traffic in the bay. What is your favourite picture of the bay? The canons with the cruise ships in the background or the sailing boats in front of the hills.

  5. My favorite picture is actually the second. The lifeboat departure is totally unacceptable!!! How did handicapped people manage to do this??

  6. @Ginny

It was ok. handicapped people could participate. The crew carries the person into the boat and the chair. Service is top priotity for everyone.

    Greetings,
    Filip

  7. Can I pick the stone house? My daughter went on a Disney cruise to a private island before Christmas. She said it was fabulous - my grandson liked it, too! I get too motion sick - would not trust it.

  9. Oh I like them all, although the photo with the cannons in it, surely shows the traffic on the water. What beautiful ships!

  10. Lovely shots of this harbor! and your ship looks so lovely. Love the colors of the Carribean waters. I am joining your blog again. Can you imagine? Somehow your blog just disappeared from my blog roll. I was looking and looking for a post, and there was not one there. Had to go looking for you. Ugh! Computers. Hope that your new year is starting out well, and that 2013 will be an awesome year for you. Looking forward to more of your wonderful travel adventures

  17. The line to wait for a tender to get off the ship is usually very long. I have never seen a tender with 2 decks like the one in your picture. My favorite picture is the one with the sailboats on the bay.

Genieten.
