City views from Montjuic and Miramar, Barcelona

Departing at the National Museum of Barcelona you are in for a challenging walk on the hills of Montjuic. It is a well worth distraction from the busy city centre. On your way to the Miramar hill you pass a few museums, a cable car through the woods and nice views over the city. On one of the spots near the Olympic diving pool you can clearly see the constructions of La Sagrada Familia.

The gardens at the Miramar Hotel are beautifully landscaped and there is a glass box restaurant overlooking the port of Barcelona. We had a small snack here but due to lack of English by the waiter, we got to share a starter. A strange experience. From here you can take the cable car to the other side of the port near the beach.

Met vertrekpunt aan het Nationaal Museum van Barcelona begin je een uitdagende wandeling in de Montjuic heuvels. Een welgekomen afwisseling met het drukke stadscentrum. Onderweg naar Miramar wandel je langs enkele musea, een kabelbaan die door het bos gaat en je mooie vergezichten biedt over de stad. Op een plaats dicht bij het oude Olympisch schoonspringen zwembad kan je duidelijk de bouwwerken zien aan La Sagrada Familia. 

De tuinen van het Miramar Hotel zijn mooi aangelegd en er is een glazen restaurant met uitzicht op de haven van Barcelona. Hier aten we een kleine snack maar door een miscommunicatie in het Engels met de ober, dienden we een voorgerecht te delen. Een rare ervaring. Van hier kan je een kabelbaan nemen naar de andere zijde van de haven, aan het strand.
