Excellent views at Promthep Cape, Phuket

On Phuket you find several good viewpoints but Promthep Cape is probably one of the best. It is easily reachable by car and you don't have to walk long distances to see spectacular cliffs and palm trees. The ocean and landscape here at the south west part of Phuket Island are just top.

On the viewpoint there is a small shrine with lots of elephant statues. This provides good photo opportunities. The elephants are present in all kinds of sizes and colors. A modern version of a lighthouse resembles a temple tower.

On the road and parking area you find local shops selling mainly shells, T-shirts, drinks and candy. We were relieved that we could buy a cold soft drink here. Just at the moment I took my pictures of the shops a cool motorcycle with a Thai family passed by. Could you imagine such a small kid on top of a motorcycle like this in Europe or the USA. No. In Thailand, this is normal.

Op Phuket vind je vele viewpoints maar Promthep Cape is één van de beste. Je kan de plaats gemakkelijk bereiken per auto en dient geen grote afstanden te wandelen om spectaculaire rotsen en palmbomen te zien. De oceaan samen met dit landschap in het zuidwesten van Phuket bieden een top uitzicht.

Op het uitzichtpunt staat een kleine tempel met vele beelden van olifanten. Dit beidt mogelijkheden voor prachtige foto's. De olifanten staan er in vele kleuren en grootten. Een moderne versie van een vuurtoren lijkt wel een tempeltoren. 

Aan de straatkant en parkeerplaats zijn er enkele lokale winkels die voornamelijk schelpen, T-shirts, drank en snoep verkopen. We waren blij hier een koude frisdrank te kopen. Net op het moment ik een foto van de straat nam, passeerde er een coole moto bereden door een Thaise familie. Kan je het voorstellen dat men in Europa of de Verenigde Staten rijdt met zo'n klein kind op de moto? Neen. Hier in Thailand is dat gebruikelijk.

Sanibel Island with the fantastic Causeway Beach area

Sanibel is an island on the West side of Florida. There is only one way on and off the island by car. It is the Causaway Bay Bridge for which you have to pay a toll of about $7. It is well worth the visit.

Our first stop is at the Causeway Bay Beach, just behind the bridge. Our intention was to take a picture of the curved bridge, as we did. But we got a real bonus, this small beach area was so beautiful with all the shells and clear water that we walked there for an hour.

Our second and last stop on the island was the Sanibel Lighthouse beach area. This is the main beach location. It is rather touristic and you have to pay to park your car. At the parking lot, you can go directly on the beach or walk via a dune forest to the lighthouse.

Sanibel is een eiland aan de west kant van Florida. De enige manier om per auto Sanibel te bereiken is via de Causeway Bay brug, waarvoor je een tol bijdrage van ongeveer 7$ dient te betalen. Het is zeker de moeite om het eiland te bezoeken. 

Onze eerste halte is aan het Causeway Bay strand, net achter de brug. We hadden de bedoeling een foto van de gebogen brug te maken en dit lukte ook. We kregen echter een grote bonus, dit kleine strand met zijn schelpen en kristal helder water was zo mooi dat we er een uur bleven. 

Onze tweede en laatste stop op het eiland was het hoofdstrand aan de vuurtoren. Dit is zeer toeristisch en je dient te betalen voor de parking. Vanaf het parkeerterrein kan je rechtstreeks het strand opwandelen of door de bossen naar de vuurtoren..

Fort Myers Beach similar like Florida Keys but at Estero Bay

Fort Myers Beach is a small island located between Estero Bay and San Carlos Bay. The island is connected to the main State of Florida by two bridges and one road, the Estero Boulevard. The complete coast line has a wide sand stroke with private beachfront homes, what a view the residents have here.

At the most northern end of Fort Myers Beach you find hotels, shops, restaurants and the pier. If you want to park your car in this area, you will have to pay for a full or half day. This is a region where you can find shells, some of them almost as big as your foot. At the pier we saw a lonely Pelican. In our opinion a good beach location for a day trip.

Fort Myers Beach is een klein eiland dat gelegen is tussen Estero Bay en San Carlos Bay. Het eiland is verbonden met het vaste land van Florida via twee bruggen en één grote hoofdstraat, de Estero Boulevard. De volledige kustlijn heeft een brede witte zandstrook waar mooie huisjes langs gebouwd zijn, wat een perfect zicht voor de bewoners. 

Op het meest noordelijk punt van Fort Myers Beach vind je hotels, winkels, restaurants en de pier. Als je hier wil parkeren moet je betalen voor een halve of volledige dag. Dit is een gebied waar je veel schelpen kan vinden, sommige zo groot als je voet. Bij de pier zagen we een eenzame pelikaan. Naar onze mening een goede strandlocatie voor een daguitstap..

The fascinating plants and clear waters of Eagle Beach, Aruba

The island of Aruba is known for its beaches, some claim you find here the most beautiful beaches in the world. The island is a perfect holiday location for divers, people who like to snorkel and relax on the beach. I start the Eagle Beach article starts with six wooden chairs facing the sea. Like always in the Caribbean colour is an important theme.

Next to the walking paths you find all kinds of trees, flowers, plants and cactuses. Shinny shells lay on the rocks, the sea water delivers a lovely sound. Although there are no people around, we are not alone on a kilometres long trail between bushes and trees. Each step we take, little lizards jump out of the way. At the end of the walk we decide to enjoy a local cocktail at a beach bar.

Aruba is populair omwille van zijn mooie stranden, sommigen beweren dat je hier de mooiste stranden ter wereld vindt. Het eiland is ideaal voor duikers, mensen die van snorkelen houden en ontspanning aan zee. We vangen ons artikel aan met zes houten stoelen die naar het water gericht zijn. Kleuren zijn altijd belangrijk in de Caraïben en dit wordt hier weer duidelijk. 

Aan beide zijden van het wandelpad staan bomen, struiken, bloemen en cactussen. Blinkende schelpen liggen aangespoeld op de rotsen en het oprukkende zeewater zorgt voor muzikale begeleiding. Alhoewel er soms geen mensen in de buurt zijn, blijven we niet alleen op het kilometers lange zanderige wandelpad tussen bomen en struiken. Bij iedere stap springen kleine hagedissen weg. Op het einde van onze wandeling beslissen we een cocktail te drinken aan de strandbar..

The beach of Middelkerke, shells, breakwaters and seagulls

My parents are retired and live in an apartment with an open view on the beach of Middelkerke. You wake up and have breakfast with a sea view. On a sunny day, they enjoy a beer or a bottle of wine on their own terrace. The dog has always fun running on the beach. The sandy strip is wide and some areas are covered with thousands of small shells and stones. The sea is calm and the breakwaters are visited by large seagulls. Sometimes little crabs and shrimp get trapped on the breakwater and they are an easy prey for the water birds. Do you want to wake up with that view?

Mijn ouders zijn op pensioen en wonen in een appartement met open zicht op het strand van Middelkerke. Je wordt wakker en ontbijt met zicht op zee. Op een zonnige dag genieten ze van een biertje of een fles wijn op hun eigen terras. De hond heeft altijd plezier aan zijn wandelingen op het strand. Op de brede zandstrook zijn gedeeltes volledige bedekt met duizenden schelpen en kleine steentjes. De zee is kalm en golfbrekers krijgen bezoek van vele grote meeuwen. Soms raken kleine krabben of garnalen gevangen tussen de rotsen en zijn ze een gemakkelijke prooi voor de zeevogels. Wil je niet wakker worden met zo’n uitzicht?.
