Spectacular views and the Brimstone Hill Fortress in St. Kitts

Compared to other Caribbean islands, this fortress is in excellent state and the views on the Caribbean Sea are just spectacular. The blue waters in combination with the green environment are unbelievable, you don’t find this in Europe. The cannons still stand guard on the fortress walls. When you see enemy vessels approaching you should ring the bell, manually.

The about 250 year old fortress is located on an altitude of 250 metres. To reach the top, we have to climb. The fortress built by the Brits was at the end of the 18th century captured by the French. Just like on many Caribbean islands the power changed hands regularly between the Brits, Dutch, French and Spanish. The only goal was profit and exploitation of the local population. We were amazed by the nature, flowers, sea, the viaduct on the hill and off course the Brimstone Hill Fortress. If you travel to St. Kitts you absolutely need to visit this fort.
